What to See This Summer at the WSOP

Posted by admin under Poker News

Going to Las Vegas this summer for the WSOP, you’ll have lots of tings to see and lots of events to attend.

E.g. World Championship H.O.R.S.E. (Event 45) started three years ago having become premiere event at the WSOP with the buy-in equal to $50,000. Lots of top pros take part in it, that’s why it’s been called an “all-star event”. The winner of the event can claim to be the best poker player in the world.

World Championship No-Limit Texas Hold’em (Event 54) is another event on the list. Thousands of players participate in it. This is the place to enjoy drama. But this year the event has become less attractive for tourists due to the fact that the final table action won’t begin until November.

The new event to take into consideration is World Championship Mixed Event (Event 8, June 4-6). The tournament consists of Triple Draw 2-7, Limit Hold’em, Omaha 8, Razz, Stud, Stud 8, No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha. The game will change every eight hands changing fortunes.

World Championship Pot Limit Omaha (Event 50, June 29-July 1) will showcase the best Omaha players the game has to offer. Omaha, to be noticed, is getting more and more popular all over the world.

Seven Card Razz (Event 26, June 13-15) is a very simple and very entertaining game. Reading the board, you can easily tell who has the worst hand and who has the best hand. And this makes the game the best to watch as a spectator.

2-7 Triple Draw Lowball (Limit) (Event 40, June 22-24) is a unique game thanks to its triple draw lowball. Isn’t it fun to watch pros draw three times to try and get the worst hand possible?

World Championship Heads Up No-Limit Hold’em (Event 25, June 13-15) believed to be easy to follow and completely unpredictable.

Ladies No-Limit Hold’em World Championship (Event 15, June 8-10) is the event that is likely to bring the most fun. The top women and celebrities including Teri Hatcher, Joely Fisher, Mindy McCready and Mimi Rogers are going to take part in it. Moreover, some of the players are part of the Queen of Hearts team who intend to make a charitable contribution to the Nevada Cancer Institute.

World Championship Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better (Event 37, June 19-21) is a popular home game to be played by professionals.

Limit Hold’em Shootout (Event 53, July 1-2) is an event with much play to watch and strategy to talk about. There are three rounds in the tournament. At the beginning of every round, every player starts with the exact same number of chips. Having survived two rounds, you proceed to the third one which is the final table. After that you get to start all over again with a fresh stack.

What Generation Y Expects from Land Poker Machines

Posted by admin under Poker News

The style of games in the internet gambling industry cannot but influence the way the land games are presented. Though, in many cases the graphics quality of some land poker machines leaves much to be desired, new enhanced graphics can already be found at video poker machines and other land gambling games.

Nowadays the land and internet gambling industries have to upgrade and offer the best possible technologies. The fast development of technologies is not the only reason for that. New generation of gamblers raised on video gaming graphics and interactive gaming technologies has higher expectation of the minimum elements acceptable in a land poker machine game.

This topic was discussed at the Future Trends in Gaming Conference that took place last month in Queensland, Australia.

The World Series of Golf and Full Tilt Poker are New Partners

Posted by admin under Poker News

Full Tilt Poker has been reported to become the title sponsor of the Las Vegas-based sports and entertainment event – the World Series of Golf.

The multi-platform branding opportunities that span broadcast television are just a small portion of opportunities the sponsorship partnership brings.

Members of “Team Full Tilt” will be well represented in this year’s tournament field with avid golfers and world-class poker players such as Phil Ivey, David Benyamine, Brandon Adams, David Grey, Allen Cunningham, David Oppenheim, Andy Bloch, Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, and Erick Lindgren scheduled to participate in the World Series of Golf live event that will be played May 12 – 15 at Paiute Golf Resort in Las Vegas, NV.

The World Series of Golf allows for high stakes to ride on each and every shot of the tournament. Players must ante up before teeing off at each hole. Depending on the outcome of the tee shots, the player can then raise, call, check or fold on subsequent shots, with the winner of the hole collecting the pot. So, it is clear that every shot counts. The players have nothing to do there without wagering strategy.

With no more chips to ante up, that player is eliminated. The winner of each group moves onto the next round until the final group yields the golfer who is crowned the champion of the World Series of Golf.

The broadcast of the program has been scheduled for June 28 and 29 on CBP.

Will the Attempt to Overturn the 2006 UIGEA be a Success?

Posted by admin under Poker News

The Poker Players’ Alliance (PPA) is looking forward towards the 2006 UIGEA to be overturned. 20,000 letters have been sent to Congress offices since the middle of May. Moreover, they have attended Washington town hall meetings.

Rep. Barney Frank and Rep. Ron Paul represent interests of the Alliance. Rep. Frank’s Bill is supposed to negate the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006.

In case of the UIGEA two freedoms are infringed: the ability to do with the money as people see fit and the freedom from government interference with the Internet.
